about

A live recording of the performance by The Whistlebinkies and the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong in Hong Kong City Hall on January 17, 2006, conducted by David Gwilt. The premiere was on October 13 2002 by The Whistlebinkies and Ayrshire Youth Orchestra. The Gaelic title suggests 'big music and little music', revealed in counterposing the orchestra against the smaller folk group. A harmonious unity is achieved by the end.

about

The Whistlebinkies Glasgow, UK

Formed in the late 1960s in Glasgow, Scotland, the band made a substantial contribution to the development of Scottish traditional music during the subsequent decades. They led the revival of the bellows-blown bagpipes and were the first ensemble to combine the Celtic harp, fiddle and pipes in regular performance.

Bandcamp material is not found on the band's Claddagh, Greentrax and Lochshore CDs.
